Madison Square Park (Flatiron)
Fatty Kat Eats: Maysville, La Mar Cebicheria, The Hurricane Steak & Sushi, Eleven Madison Park
Last week, I got lucky and scored a ticket to the Celebrate Flatiron Chefs event in Madison Square Park. It's safe to say that I left the park drenched in sweat and stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey. Every booth offered a tasting portion of something special. I'm proud to say it would take 4 hands to count the number of dishes I tried - 19. Are you surprised? Probably not. Check out the full lineup here.
While I can barely remember the names of each dish (blame the food coma), I do remember these guys:
- Maysville – Summer Salad and Watermelon with Prosciutto
- La Mar Cebicheria – Fluke Ceviche
- The Hurricane Steak & Sushi – Lobster Roll
- Eleven Madison Park – Sassafras Float with Banana Ice Cream
The only thing I really didn’t like was the Montauk Pearl Oyster with Cucumber-Sake Granita from L&W Oyster. Fancy name, but the oyster was slimy and gross.
There was a ton of alcohol at the event, but due to my unfortunate yet economical genetic weakness, I only indulged in a few sips of a Pisco Sour and white wine. I also spotted Chelsea Clinton chatting with David Chang. Guess who I was more excited to see.
